Sources and data policy

Source priority

1. Official manufacturer specifications
2. Official documentation and press materials
3. Government and regulatory sources (for example EPA fuel economy, IP ratings bodies)
4. Reputable industry databases
5. Trusted publications, only where an official figure does not exist

Stored with every product

Each product record stores its source name, URL, source type and the date its specifications were last verified. Those details are printed at the bottom of every product and comparison page.

Price baseline

We record launch or official list prices in US dollars. Regional prices, promotions and currency conversions change daily and are out of scope.

Estimates

Where a manufacturer does not publish a figure (Apple battery capacities, for example) we either leave the row as "Not published" or, where a widely reported teardown or regulatory filing exists, use that figure and say so in the product summary.

Reporting an error

Email the page URL and a link to the correct source to the address on our contact page. Confirmed corrections are applied to the database and every affected page is regenerated. See the corrections policy.
