Water vs Paracetamol

Water versus Paracetamol?

My grandfather died from a lung problem. Although he was a regular smoker, he also had a weak lungs. Unluckily, I inherited my granpa’s weakness, a vulnerable respiratory system.

I couldn’t count on my fingers how many times i was hospitalized because of Respiratory Track Infection. And everytime I was confined at the hospital or diagnosed with RTI, I am bombarded with lots of medicines. Paracetamol was never out in my list of drugs since along with my RTI was always a fever. In short, my body was so full of Paracetamol and other RTI related meds.

Until one day, I read from a bulletin posted by my office mate about water therapy and its benefits. I found out that there are various illnesses and diseases you can treat by only drinking water. And one of these was my chronic problem, cough and colds. When I first read about it, i couldn’t believe since it was too good to be true. I couldn’t imagine a free and very accessible medicine for URTI-water.

Until soon enough, i had flu and eventually had a slight fever. I then gambled in drinking water instead of taking medicine. As soon as I stood on my feet the next day, I drank 1.5 liters of water and drank more as much as i could. I never stopped drinking water the whole day. Its like I want to drown myself from water. I thought then that if other people can bear drinking cases of Liquors/beers, why can’t I drink cases of water? Much more if it can make my body feel better or heal me from any sickness? And so I ended the day with only water running my whole body. I continued until before I slept. The only thing i hated when I was doing this was, I was also a chronic visitor of the comfort room. 🙂 but the following day? I swear, God knows, had no fever and I really felt better. I was really amazed. I dunno if that was a coincident but just a week ago, i had again a flu and slight fever. And all i did was just drink plenty and plenty and plenty and pleeeenty of water. Although i bought Paracetamol and few Carbocisteine capsules, i did not bother taking it. Still, I got healed.

Water is I guess a very powerful medicine we should all take advantage of. Its not that I am setting aside medicines( i still believe in them), but if we can heal our illnesses by natural resources/process, why not take it? And besides its for free!

Friendster vs Facebook

Friendster versus Facebook. Facebook versus Friendster. Which is better?

I have signed up and used friendster for almost 3 years now. I was very pleased with this social site because it has been surprising me in meeting my long lost classmates and friends online. It has indeed a very helpful tool in linking to/with other people, both those you know and those you dont.

With that number of years, I could somehow say that I know well friendster’s services and/or features. I have no complains about this social site except sometimes I had so many messages and requests to people who I don’t know and are just actually wanting to befriend with me because they just wanted to increase their list of friends to hundreds and maybe thousands (well, it’s a social site anyway).

Just lately my wife told me about another social site called Facebook.Although I have heard about it for the past years, I explained to her that as far as I know, Friendster was just patterned to Facebook. The only difference i guess was friendster spread like a virus, especially in the PHilippines.

I thought Facebook has bad features that’s why it was outran by friendster. However, when my wife told me Kris Aquino uses Facebook, I then thought Facebook may not be that bad at all, knowing Kris Aquino’s character, very choosy and ‘meticulous’. [Yet I still dont like her :-)]

2 days ago, my brother told me he doesn’t have friendster accounts, but he, his wife, my brothers and his friends rather use Facebook. I asked why and he told me that facebook is better. He explained few points and reasoned more on the fact that in friendster, you have so many offending photos and pictures, sometimes even posted on main pages. There are lots of nude photos in friendster. (Have you noticed that also?) Also, he said that in facebook, you’re social network limits only to your friends and your friends friends, and not to people who are not related to you at all.

To check and see the difference, I signed up for Facebook and I’m just few days old now. For the meantime, I could hardly give feedbacks on difference between the 2 but I have researched few sites and here are some that I found out:

THE FEEL: Similarities and Differences

Similar Features:
• Friend Updates
• Upload Photos and Videos
• Comments (Friendster)/ the Wall (Facebook)
• Send a Smile (Friendster)/ Poke (Facebook)
• Connect with School/ College Friends
• Fans Profiles
• Shout Out (Friendster)/ What am I doing right now (Facebook)
• Classifieds
• Bulletin Boards (Friendster)/ Events and Feed (Facebook)
• Send a Smile (Friendster)/ Poke (Facebook)
• Groups and Discussion Forums

Level of Privacy
Both Friendster and Facebook have customizable privacy settings, and allow their users to choose what profile visitors can and cannot see. However, Facebook is stricter when it comes to privacy, as full viewing of profiles is restricted to 1st-degree friends only; whereas Friendster allows anyone, including non-registered Friendster browsers, to explore and view all “open” profiles.

Friendster has its own blog-builder open to its users which works like and just as customizable as any other weblog publishing site. The Friendster blog is linked to the user profile page and opens up into a separate window when accessed. Facebook on the other hand, only allows users to post links to their external weblogs on their Facebook profiles.

Facebook’s Applications is what sets it apart from Friendster. Due to its restricted layout and small fonts, adding applications to the Facebook profile is easy as a breeze. Due to Facebook Platform which allows developers to create applications to be shared and used within the Facebook community, Facebook has a well of fun applications that users can add to their own and their friends’ profiles ranging from games, quizzes, polls, virtual gestures, etc.

Distinctly Friendster:
CSS customizable profiles.

Distinctly Facebook:
This is a feature that allows users to send virtual gifts to their Facebook friends and networks.

This feature allows users to create their own Facebook profile widget that they can upload in other websites.

Business Solutions
Facebook also has a dedicated page that encourages employers, business owners and organizations to create Facebook profiles and use it as a tool to promote their businesses or groups, and to connect with members/customers.

To Blog versus Not to Blog?

I am NOT a good writer, but i want to write. I am more of a Mathematician than a journalist. I would prefer to work with numbers rather than words and sentences. I just could not equate myself constructing premises, phrases or paragraphs, much more if I make blogs. I will have plenty of critics and I would be ashamed anybody notices my errors.

However, life is a continuous learning experience and that practice makes perfect. And so, I will not let my fear overcome me. I will conquer it! If scientist and geniuses commit mistakes, I deserve an excuse. I will speak my mind and blog at my own pace. This will be my venue of improving my weakness in writing. Go Blogging!

See I didn’t notice I have 16 post already in less than a month! It took me a week to make one article before hehehe!

Me vs Me

I’ll never go versus  I’ll be? (my voice)

They say that music is the language of the soul. That is why maybe all of us sing regardless whether we voiced it out or we keep it only in our minds or in our hearts. I believe that everyone of us has built-in music players and microphones inside us, only, we set our own volumes or we decide if we turn it on or off.

I am a music lover. I may not have Bryan Adams voice nor do I have David Cooks talent, but I have my inert music player turned on 🙂 You can also have yours plugged and turned on. What matters most is that you produce melody. If the endless crying of babies can be called melody, I think we can do better than that 🙂 And besides, practice makes perfect. So, come on join me sing these 2 of my audio clips( I’ll Never Go and I’ll be). Hope I, or we, wont sore anyone’s ears, hehehe!

Waking up early VERSUS Waking up late

I’m a sore sleeper. The more time I lay on my bed, the happier I am. (Well, I hope i am not alone with this habit) When I was still a child, my mother and father oftentimes had to shout at me (with my bro and sis) just to let me or us stand at our feet and wake-up. But oftentimes, a shout is not just good enough. So, there I am, daydreaming and trying to catch a sleep again and again and again. Thus oftentimes also, I woke up shocked with my mom or dad already beside me with “pamalo”(whip) to serve my unpleasant breakfast meal.

I could still recall the time when my mom threatened to pour water on me if I dont wake up, yet i just grabbed a pillow and covered my ears and savour my time in bed, as if i dont hear anything. And true enough, my mother brought a dipper full of water. Fortunately, I was able to jump on my feet and run direct to the comfort room and take my bath! (Good thing, i often watch Jackie Chan movies and that helped me with the escape and evasion 🙂

A father of one daughter, sometimes I still struggle to wake up early. Why? I’m a comfort-oriented man and lying in bed just makes me feel relaxed. The picture of just embracing a pillow and minding no time envies me. I sometimes sleep even til 12 noon because back in my mind, i always think that I need to cope with the many latenight works and movie marathons i do.

However, I always strive to wake up before sunrise. “Early to bed, early to rise makes a man wise.” Thats how i always remind myself everytime i struggle on waking up before the sun does. Why do i force myself to wake up early? First, I feel active. My body seemed to be 100% fully awake and 100% ready to take any task everytime I’m up early. Second, I feel rejuvinated. The morning breeze brought maybe by the plants that surround me refreshed my mind and my nerves. Its a morning theraphy. Third, I could prepare early for work thus getting rid being rushed, which really irrates me and my wife often, and i get rid of the ever time consuming and totally annoying TRAFFIC. Lastly, i fight to wake up early because i get to eat my breakfast on time. Breakfast is the most important meal but if i wake up late, i skip breakfast (bad cheetah!)

So even if its against my will, i wake up early.
